Underground Foreman
Position Rationale
Working as a part of a team, the Foreman will provide overall support for the Construction Projects within the City of Calgary and surrounding areas. Reporting to the Superintendent, the Underground Foreman will support Elite’s vision, mission, and values. They will be assisting the Superintendent in managing the field operations through planning, coordinating, and with limited supervision, completion of required key functions, while also performing actual tasks.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist Superintendent with organizing and coordinating the daily activities of all crew members, sub-contractors, and equipment
- Ability to effectively lead, mentor, and motivate crew while demonstrating team values and work ethic.
- Schedule equipment and manpower needs with the superintendent
- Attend project closeout meetings to ensure the successful completion of projects.
- Review grade sheets for accuracy.
- Review and submit electronic timesheets on a daily basis.
- Proficient at reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
- Attends and participates in toolbox and safety committee meetings as scheduled.
- Install pipe online, on grade with quality
- Have substantial knowledge of local underground specifications
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Foreman working in a Deep Underground Utility environment (Sewer and Water)
- Thorough knowledge of construction procedures, including safety practices
- Using knowledge and skills obtained from both education and field experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Civil construction knowledge

Directional Driller - Underground Utilities, Water and Sewer Replacement
Position Overview
Reporting to the Superintendent the Horizontal Directional Driller will be responsible for all phases of any directional drilling jobs by planning, and execution in order to meet or exceed client expectations. Travel is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilities including, water and sewer.
- Extensive experience with both rural and urban municipalities,
- Conduct pre-trip/walk-around safety inspection
- Ability to operate all equipment functions independently and safely
- Keep abreast of all directional drilling techniques and all surveying methods
- Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving of loads and conduct in response to hand or audio signals from team members
- Interpret stakes and signage on the land
- Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions included but not limited to extreme temperatures (heat and cold), rain, sleet, snow, wind, and/or wet/humid conditions
- Work under stress and with commitment to timelines and deadlines on a daily basis
- Adhering to Elite Site Services specific policies and regulations
- Adhering to site specific rules and regulations
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Maintain excellent communication between members of the team and clients
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 3 years of horizontal directional drilling experience
Safety certificates required
- Global Ground Disturbance Level II,
- Confined Space-Entry and Rescue,
- H2S,
- First Aid,
- CSTS,
- Fall Protection,
- WHMIS2015,

Construction Labourer
Working as a part of a team, the Construction Labourer will provide overall support for the Construction Projects throughout Alberta. Labourers perform tasks involving physical labour and may operate hand and power tools of all types. Labourers clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble, debris, and other waste materials as needed. Labourers are required to assist trades and other workers as directed by the Foreman or Superintendent.
Position Accountabilities:
- Work with a crew for the demolition of concrete and landscaped areas
- Adapts and applies experience to new situations and challenges
- Depending on the role, uses industry tools/equipment to handle and install materials within the job-site
- Construction of precast or natural stone retaining walls
- Paving stone installation
- Underground utility/pipe installation
- Trenching and utility works
- Various other types of civil work
- Working around excavators and heavy equipment
- Operating small packers and other equipment
- Shoveling
- Heavy lifting
- Working in an outdoor setting
Qualifications & Experience:
- Pass mandatory Drug, Alcohol & Fitness Testing
- Valid Driver’s License (Class 5) and reliable transportation
- Strong communication skills
- High attention to detail, problem-solving, decision-making skills are required
